Pavel Dovgal

Pavel Dovgal is an electronic music producer and sound engineer based in Los Angeles, and the founder of the independent label Monoclockmusic. He began his musical journey in 2008 in Ukraine, creating early tracks and mixes that led to his debut studio release Cassiopeia in 2010 on the Berlin-based label Project Mooncircle. Over the years, Pavel has collaborated with international artists such as Robot Koch, Mujuice, Ta-Ku, and BLU. His music draws inspiration from hip-hop, 70s jazz, indie pop, ethnic African sounds, and electronic experimentation—shaped by extensive travels through Asia. His latest album, A Guided Tour of Hell, marks a distinct new chapter in his work. Created as a musical counterpart to Pema Namdol Thaye’s 26 paintings for the book A Guided Tour of Hell, the album explores the Buddhist concept of hell and the realms of suffering depicted throughout the book. Each composition was created in response to the imagery and atmosphere of the paintings, blending downtempo, electronica, and ambient music into an immersive journey through Buddhist visions of suffering, death, transformation, and liberation. This project stands apart from Dovgal’s previous concept-driven records, including Cassiopeia, Bedouin, The Aura, and ARROW, presenting a more contemplative and spiritually focused approach to sound, visual art, and storytelling.
