Biography & Metadata

Modern Fossils is an all-original Hard Rock band from Pittsburgh PA. The band has played at prominent music festivals, and opened for national acts including Glenn Hughes, Lita Ford, Sponge, Anvil, Last in Line, Texas Hippie Coalition, & Josey Scott (The Original Voice of Saliva). Modern Fossils have become known for their unique music and live performances. It is ridiculously hard to describe their sound, many have tried while admitting that it is extremely hard to pinpoint who they sound like. Live performances are where they really shine. Their on-stage energy is contagious. Unfortunately, we lost the founding Fossil Larry Dawgiello at the end of 2024, but we are carrying on as a 4 piece in his honor. Modern Fossils are: Danielle Dawgiello (keyboards & vocals) Brendan Munz (guitar) Bill Munz (bass) Stefan Rodriguez (drums) “Musically, Modern Fossils, harness the power and artistry of artists that emerged out of The New Wave of British Heavy Metal. With a strong sonic complexity that rivals the best of Progressive Rock bands of the era. Vocally, the band provides a complex mix of tastes. On the one hand, you have Larry’s gritty tone reminiscent of Bobby Amaru and Jonny Cash with a pinch of James LaBrie. Then, on the other side, imagine if we took a splice of Alice Cooper, Janis Joplin, and Stevie Nicks, well you’d get the powerhouse vocalist that is DanYell” By Squiggly Meyers
