Biography & Metadata

Andrew Colella’s debut EP, Rites, is a reflection on growth, the passage of time, and unexpected life events. Much of it written while Andrew was while touring as Janelle Monáe’s viola player in the ArchOrchestra, the album captures a balance between dancey energy and thoughtful reflection. Blending classical sonic textures with synth-pop energy, the sound is rooted in dance rhythms with an introspective layer, driven by synths, with viola and guitar adding subtle depth. The textures are intended to create immersive spaces, blending energetic beats with feelings of motion and vastness. A talented violist, Andrew is an original member of Janelle Monáe’s ArchOrchestra and has performed on stages and festivals such as the Sydney Opera House, Glastonbury Music Festival, the White House, and Nobel Peace Prize Ceremony. His tenure with Monáe was marked by collaborations on major tours, including headlining the Campus Consciousness Tour with fun., co-headlining the Hooligans in Wondaland Tour with Bruno Mars, as well as opening for Katy Perry's California Dreams Tour. Beyond the concert stage, his role as a recording artist has led to notable collaborations, including obtaining a gold record for his work on Rick Ross's "Teflon Don" and projects with the Wondaland Arts Society.
