Mercury Teardrop

Mercury Teardrop is the Vancouver, BC-based musical project of Canadian songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Brad Bauman. Blending shimmering guitars, atmospheric synthesizers, and haunting melodies, Mercury Teardrop creates immersive soundscapes that fuse the emotional depth of post-punk with the cinematic textures of modern indie and electronic music. Drawing inspiration from artists such as The Cure, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Tears for Fears, and The Clash, while embracing contemporary alternative, dream-pop, shoegaze, and electronic influences, Bauman crafts songs that are both nostalgic and forward-looking. His music explores themes of memory, isolation, resilience, and human connection through evocative songwriting and richly layered production. As the project's primary creative force, Bauman writes, performs, records, and produces Mercury Teardrop's music, often collaborating with a rotating collective of vocalists, who bring the songs to life. Since its inception, Mercury Teardrop has attracted listeners worldwide for its distinctive fusion of new wave, post-punk, shoegaze, and post-rock influences. Beyond Mercury Teardrop, Bauman is also the lead guitarist for Vancouver-based band Modern Angel. With every release, Mercury Teardrop continues to carve out a unique space where analog nostalgia meets modern sonic exploration, creating music for late-night reflection, neon-lit memories, and the spaces between darkness and light.
