Im Bora

Im Bora is a jazz pianist and composer whose music moves between lyrical jazz, improvisation, electronic textures, and atmospheric soundscapes. She released her debut album, Wordless Picture Book, in 2013. Her third album, Lingering Sound, released in 2021, marked a significant expansion of her musical language, incorporating synthesizers and electronic sounds alongside the expressive depth of the piano. Blending jazz improvisation with contemporary textures and a strong sense of space, Bora explores the space between the familiar and the unknown. Her artistic practice also extends beyond music. In collaboration with illustrator B.D. Graft, she created The Art of Yellow, a project exploring the dialogue between sound and visual art. Bora has performed at major Korean jazz stages, including the Jarasum Jazz Festival and Seoul Forest Jazz Festival. In 2024, she was invited to perform at the Okinawa Jazz Festival with her own ensemble, as part of a Korea–China–Japan musical collaboration. Dreamy yet grounded, her music unfolds through delicate melodies, spontaneous interplay, and spacious textures.
