Biography & Metadata
Some bands become synonymous with an era. Very few outlast it. More than three decades after helping define the sound of ‘90s rock radio, Candlebox remains one of the most successful and enduring bands to emerge from Seattle’s legendary music scene. With a quadruple-platinum debut album, more than four million records sold, a main-stage performance at Woodstock ‘94, and tours alongside rock giants including Metallica and Rush, Candlebox built a legacy that most bands spend a lifetime chasing. Remarkably, their story is still being written. Led by founder, vocalist, and songwriter Kevin Martin, Candlebox exploded onto the national stage in 1993 with the release of their self-titled debut album. At a time when Seattle was reshaping the sound of modern rock, Candlebox carved out a lane of their own — pairing hard-hitting riffs and soaring melodies with deeply personal songwriting. Fueled by enduring hits including “Far Behind,” “You,” “Change,” and “Cover Me,” the album climbed to No 7 on the Billboard 200, spent 104 weeks on the chart, earned quadruple-platinum certification, and sold more than four million copies worldwide. “Far Behind” became a Top 20 Billboard Hot 100 hit, helping establish Candlebox as one of the defining rock acts of the decade. In 2026, Candlebox returns to the road with the “Can’t Quit You” Tour. With guitarist Peter Klett back in the band, Candlebox continues to deliver powerful songs and unforgettable live performances to multiple generations.
