Biography & Metadata

Swedish soul-rock rising star Jesper Lindell and his band Brunnsvik Sounds have done the unthinkable: in just four days, they recorded not one but two albums at two of America’s most legendary studios—Royal Studios in Memphis and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Alabama. Both albums, Royal and 3614 Jackson Highway, will be released by YepRoc Records. For Jesper, hailed in Europe as one of the most authentic voices of his generation, the journey was a pilgrimage to the birthplace of soul and Southern rock. With his band of five years—after more than 600 shows across Europe—he crossed the Atlantic to step into the same rooms that shaped classics by Al Green, The Staple Singers, Elvis Presley, Otis Redding, and The Rolling Stones. Despite losing precious time due to flight delays, the band captured nine songs in just a day and a half at Muscle Shoals, before driving through the night to Memphis. At Royal Studios, under the guidance of Boo Mitchell (son of Hi Records legend Willie Mitchell), they cut another nine tracks—powerful, live, and bursting with energy. The result is two vibrant love letters to Southern music, featuring Jesper’s heartfelt renditions of The Letter, Drift Away, Respect Yourself and I Can’t Stand the Rain, alongside hidden gems from Otis Clay, Margie Joseph, Tony Joe White and more. Guests include Phil Campbell (The Temperance Movement), Frazey Ford, and Swedish singer Michaela Holmberg.
