Irene Shapes

Music, for me, is a way of translating thoughts and emotions into a form that exists beyond words. As a solo artist, musician, composer, and audio engineer, I independently create every release, from composition and performance to recording, mixing, and mastering. My music moves through indie alternative, art rock, soft rock, post-rock, and electronic experimentation, shaped less by genre than by atmosphere. Vocal lines, piano, electric guitars, bass, the mysterious voice of the guzheng, evolving synthesizers, and unconventional sonic elements come together in a space where fragility and intensity coexist. I create my own samples from real-world recordings rather than commercial libraries, transforming everyday sounds into musical elements. My work is entirely human-made, with no use of AI in my music, artwork, or creative process. A dark sensibility runs through my work, drawn to the subtle beauty found within melancholy.
