Biography & Metadata
Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Denine is one of freestyle music’s most distinctive and heartfelt voices. Her career began in 1991 at Philadelphia’s legendary Sigma Sound Studios, where she sang the female hook on T.P.E.’s “Then Came You.” Her debut album, To Be Continued…, introduced fan favorites including “Baby I Love You,” “I Remember You,” “I’ll Never Be the Same,” and “Tearshed ’93.” “I Remember You” reached No. 16 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart, while “All Cried Out” reached No. 72 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 1995, Denine recorded the original “Can’t We Try” with Collage—a beloved part of her musical legacy. After stepping away to raise her family, Denine returned in 2022. “When You Talk” reached No. 1 on iTunes Dance and received a special remix featuring the one and only George LaMond. In 2024, Denine joined forces with freestyle icon Cynthia for “Change On Me.” The collaboration reached No. 1 on iTunes Dance and No. 69 on the overall iTunes chart, becoming a defining achievement of Denine’s return. That year, she was honored as Best Contemporary New Artist at the Josie Music Awards. Now moving forward through D9 Music & Entertainment, Denine is creating new music while celebrating the catalog that has connected her with audiences for more than three decades. A devoted mother and autism advocate, her journey is rooted in family, perseverance, and the courage to begin again. The story continues…
