Paul Kahn

Through a decades long career in music, Paul Kahn has worn many hats. He has worked as a musician, songwriter, music booking agency founder, music publisher, artist manager, producer, writer, and historian. A native New Yorker, Paul was born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in 1949. In the 1960's, Paul started playing guitar. Upon graduating from high school, Paul attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he performed in a variety of string bands, graduating in 1972 with a degree in History. Finding bands in need of bass players, Paul took up string bass. In the mid-1970's, he sang and played bass with the bluegrass band Tasty Licks with banjoist Bela Fleck (playing bass on Bela's recording debut). Rounder Records featured Paul's original song "Anchored To The Shore" as the title track on the band's second album. Paul appeared as bassist on finger style guitarist Eric Schoenberg's Rounder LP, Acoustic Guitar. In 1979, Paul founded Concerted Efforts, a music booking and management agency. He has represented a wide array of legendary artists, including Buckwheat Zydeco, Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Ali Farka Toure, Youssou N’Dour, The Holmes Brothers, Rosanne Cash, Booker T. & The M.G.'s, and Odetta, among others. The Blues Foundation in Memphis honored him with a W.C. Handy Award as Agent/Manager of the Year in 1994. Paul Kahn's 6 song EP - "Willingness," produced by Catherine Russell, was released in 2026.
