Duel Ferns

Duel Ferns is a Brooklyn based psychedelic rock band. Their live record “Live 2022” is a meditative journey with hints of post-punk, trip-hop and motorik sprinkled throughout. Founding members TJ Perrin and Nicholas Comaratta were previously known as electronic musicians through their work as TTilawok & The Space Wanderer, but their musical journey began by bonding over various rock bands nearly 10 years ago. Armed with an arsenal of pedals they began creating hypnotic groove sequences with TJ on drums and Nicholas on bass in the autumn of 2021. Content with a batch of new songs, they looked to expand their sound through new members and bring the songs to the stage in 2022. The first addition was guitarist Atedhe “Rex” Rexha, also of Brooklyn heavy rockers Indigo Fuzz. Rex instantly added distorted, soaring riffs to perfectly complement the rhythm section. Next came Evan Dice, an electronic musician who pairs his hardware sequenced creations with the sound of his swirling violin in his work as Secondary Five. Evan runs his violin through a variety of guitar pedals, giving it an otherworldly texture that often bewilders the listener as to the origins of the sound. The final piece of the puzzle was the vocal void filled by Charity Souza. A relative newcomer to the music space, Charity's raw energy, charisma and wit with the mic glued the project together and added a layer of angst to the already fiery compositions.
