Biography & Metadata
From the buzzing streets of Jakarta, Indonesia, to Europe’s cultural capital, Berlin, the Indonesian-German artist has lived many lives. A transformative journey to Jamaica in 2015 ignited his musical path. There, sessions at the legendary Inna De Yard with guitar veteran Earl “Chinna” Smith (Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Amy Winehouse) and performances at iconic events such as Vinyl Thursdays, Dubwise, and Jamnesia (breeding grounds for artists like Chronixx and Protoje) shaped his sound and stage presence. With a voice that feels like an embrace — letting you know it’s okay not to be okay — Tóke offers a clear-eyed yet tender reflection on what it means to be human and to navigate this wild ride we call life. His unique sound soon reached global stages: from the Havana World Music Festival in Cuba to a tour of Mexico alongside reggae pioneer Lengualerta. He was later invited to join european reggae heavyweights Gentleman and Patrice as a support act, carrying the torch to ever-wider audiences. Extensive tours with Indonesian cultural icon Ras Muhamad gave him a fresh perspective on his roots, while the collaboration “Brown Face,” with Indonesian hip-hop heavyweights Mario Zwinkle and Tuantigabelas, resonated across the archipelago and earned airplay on major European radio stations. Tóke’s journey moves forward with the release of his latest single, “Humble Me” produced by prolific producer and friend Jon Moon with Yutman Records.
