Biography & Metadata
CHILIØ is short for Chiliocosm: a universe made of a thousand smaller universes. Based in Calgary, Alberta, between mountains and prairies, CHILIØ is five people from four countries with too many influences to sit in one lane. Pulling from pop-punk, post-hardcore, psychedelia, math rock, dream pop and whatever else fell out of the van, the band pushes pop-punk past its borders and into something stranger, louder, and more alive. Every song feels like its own world. Some are loud & frantic, some are colourful & weird, some are sad, others braggy, but all come from the same place: love, grief, anxiety, ego death, growing up, overthinking, and turning all of it into something that feels alive instead of stuck. Since 2016, CHILIØ has made music for people who have been wounded but refuse to let that become their identity. It’s about burying the old version of yourself and celebrating whatever rises next. Their debut LP (un)orthodox was featured in the TELUS documentary Small Town Strength, while “Fractals” caught the attention of Punk Rock MBA’s Finn McKenty for its genre-blending approach. In 2024, Quarter-Life Crisis pushed the band further into adulthood, existential dread, and laughing before the panic sets in. CHILIØ has shared stages with Creed, Simple Plan, Sublime, Wheatus, Calling All Captains, and more, from sweaty dive bars to festivals. CHILIØ was never about fitting into one scene but instead, making its own world. Welcome to the universe.🍄
