Khatija Rahman is a singer and composer from Chennai whose journey blends heritage with fresh artistry. She first appeared in 2010 with the title track of Enthiran, performing alongside A. R. Rahman and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam. In 2019, she collaborated with Irish rock band U2 on “Ahimsa”, carrying forward a message of peace and non-violence. Her debut independent single “Farishton” (2020) was a meditative ode to unity and diversity, earning an Honourable Mention at the L.A. Film Awards. In 2023, Khatija released her debut album Kuhu Kuhu, an all-acoustic tribute to Lata Mangeshkar featuring the Firdaus Orchestra, an all-female ensemble from the UAE. The album reimagined timeless classics with grace and sincerity, highlighting her ability to honour tradition while creating space for new interpretation. That same year, she joined forces with Arivu on “Sagavaasi” for Coke Studio Tamil, which became the breakout anthem of the season with over 23 million YouTube views, celebrated for its vibrant energy and emotional depth. In 2024, she made her debut as a film composer with Minmini, directed by Halitha Shameem, marking a new chapter in her artistic journey. She also debuted her live band at the music and culture festival South Side Story, connecting with audiences in a powerful concert setting.
