BlackGummy is the creation of Los Angeles-based producer Iman Marouf, who first encountered the mysterious entity in 2013, sparking a fusion of identities and an obsessive pursuit of mastery in sound design and music production. Mentored by renowned engineer Steve Duda, Iman contributed to the legendary synthesizer Serum and is credited for his role, cementing his reputation for forward-thinking sound design. In 2015, mau5trap recognized BlackGummy’s unique vision and released his debut track “Lullaby,” followed by the acclaimed Singularity EP in 2016. This set the tone for his dark, cinematic style and led to a trilogy of EPs — including Impactor and Monolith — each exploring profound themes and earning praise from industry leaders. He headlined his own tour and performed at festivals such as multi EDCs (Las Vegas, Mexico,China), Shambhala, Global Dance Festival, Das Energy, Lights All Night, Electric Forest, Get Freaky, Escape, Nocturnal Wonderland and many more, continuing to push the boundaries of electronic music. Upon completing the trilogy, he took a small step back to develop his most ambitious concept yet — a project larger than all three EPs combined. This new era launched with a headline show at Sound for the We Are Friends and direct support slots for deadmau5 in London and Testpilot Brooklyn. Entering this next chapter, BlackGummy will unveil his album. The first single “Potatoes & Meat” is out now on mau5trap, followed by the full album release this year.
