Carla Stark

Born Carla Biset-Bentchikou, from an Algerian-German mother and a French father, Carla Stark is a true citizen of the world. The French-Algerian singer, Belgian at heart, now spends her time between Bombay, London and Brussels. Proud of the many different sides of her personality, she describes herself as a chameleon. Carla grew up listening to both Korn and Stevie Wonder. With the sound of her father’s saxophone in her ears, she was singing the lyrics to Claude Nougaro before she could even talk. For 16 years, she worked hard on the piano, before leaving it and focusing on high school, that she finished in Vietnam. She then moved to Belgium where she got a Master in Economics (by presenting a thesis on music therapy). After a few years of business experience, Carla felt like she didn’t belong and decided to follow her heart and be an artist. ​ Carla Stark’s first album “Karma” was a quest. A quest of love and a search to find herself again after a painful breakup. Her latest EP “C.”, sometimes inspired by her deceptions, sometimes by the optimism of her better life, was a door to a new phase of her musical journey. Carla Stark writes and sings her emotions both in English and in French. Her latest single “Gulaabi”, a duet with Indian artist Paresh Pahuja, is an ode to short love stories.
