Emma Negrete

Emma Negrete makes R&B for the space between vulnerability and escape. A Los Angeles-based Chicana singer-songwriter, she pairs soaring vocals with ethereal textures, dark grooves, and the warmth of her Mexican roots. Her influences span Etta James, Rihanna, and Kali Uchis. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa, Emma studied vocal jazz at the Chicago College of Performing Arts before performing across Chicago, Los Angeles, and Shenzhen, China. Her time abroad inspired her debut EP, Algorithms, and a deeper exploration of her Mexico City roots. Moving between places and cultures continues to shape her writing about identity, belonging, and connection. On “Blood Moon,” Mexican-inspired horns and percussion meet a danceable beat and an apocalyptic love story. Her latest single, “LMG (Love Me Gently),” offers another entry into her world. Across her music, Emma makes room for anyone who has ever felt caught between cultures—and is learning to belong on their own terms.
