Biography & Metadata

sectiontoo has described his sound as simply “black music,” weaving in and out of styles that range from R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul, and Pop. Releasing four projects in the last five years, he’s continued to improve on his genre-bending abilities, making for some of the most compelling music to come out of New York in some time. Starting as a producer first, and eventually finding his footing as a songwriter during his last year of college, he released his debut “Portrait” in 2019. With standouts like “trophies” and “girls like anita,” he racked up over a million streams and captivated audiences far and wide. With sharp, witty lyrics, and sticky melodies, he made it known he was here to stay. Through the years, he’s seen success with other projects as well. 2022’s viral hit “Come See Me Tonight” saw sectiontoo in a new light. Utilizing a tried and true 90s r&b sound, fans latched on to his musings about a lost love which to date has over 300,000 streams. For an artist of his size, sectiontoo’s catalogue and output is something to marvel at. This year, he’s looking to add to that. His next release, slated for later this summer, is a culmination of years worth of hard work and dedication. He told Def Pen’s Ryan Shepard, “It’s a really big deal for me to be able to share my gift with the world because not many people get the chance to do so. It’s truly a privilege.”
