Japjeet Sandhu

Japjeet Sandhu is a young Punjabi artist known for her raw, emotive folk vocal tone that blends deep tradition with bold, contemporary influences. Born in Punjab and raised in the U.S., she began her musical journey at age three, learning harmonium, piano, and classical vocals from her grandfather. By four, she was singing kirtan at her local Sikh temple, developing the rich folk tone that defines her sound. Though classically trained, Japjeet later became self-taught, exploring new sonic landscapes while staying rooted in Punjabi folk. In 2024, she gained recognition with Off Endz, a collaboration with Raf Saperra that fused traditional vocals with East Coast hip-hop, earning a spot on the BBC Asian Network’s A-list and climbing the Official Asian Music Chart. In March 2025, she featured on AJA, a powerful duet from NICE DAY IN THE PIND by Chani Nattan & Inderpal Moga, showcasing her ability to complement global Punjabi sounds while staying true to her identity. Japjeet stands out for her commitment to originality, especially as a female voice in a male-dominated industry. With each release, she continues to challenge norms and inspire the next generation, reshaping the future of Punjabi music.
