Schandmaul

Part of the medieval scene in German rock, Schandmaul formed in 1998 and include an arsenal of traditional acoustic instrumentation to augment their electric rock sound. Within nearly 3 decades the Munich-based group has released 12 studio albums with several of them climbing to the top of the German album charts and two reaching the gold status which is synonym to 100,000 sold units. In 2023 a severe blow thwarted the band’s future plans when singer Thomas Lindner was diagnosed with cancer which left him unable to sing again. Quitting wasn’t an option, so the band decided to bring Marco Klingel—aka Till Herence—into the band as their new frontman with Thomas continuing being a band member and playing various instruments on stage. In 2026 their latest album, Sternensegler was released which brings a fresh start brimming with powerful, positive energy and was rewarded by fans with a No. 2 spot on the German album charts.
