Biography & Metadata

Born in Harvey, Illinois, Neosha discovered her affinity for music early on. At the age of six, she saw Brandy Norwood’s Have You Ever music video, while watching TV at her grandmother’s house. Buoyed by her grandmother’s encouragement and inspired by artists including Brandy, Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill, Neosha found the courage to pursue music as a career. Love Letters, the singer’s debut EP, was released in 2020. Neosha’s latest record, Unapologetically Me, is the artist’s most personal – and powerful – yet. The album was borne out of an experience with a friend and collaborator who tried to dull the singer’s shine by controlling her creative vision and sound. While the situation initially shook Neosha’s confidence, out of self-doubt came resilience, strength, and the determination to follow her creative instincts and go it alone. Unapologetically Me is proof that when Neosha puts her mind to something, magic is made. Committed to inspiring self-empowerment in her listeners, Neosha leads by example. The singer/songwriter not only wrote Unapologetically Me but also single-handedly produced the whole album, from the recording studio she’s built at her Madison home. Neosha may have found creative independence but her commitment to the spirit of togetherness, to bringing people together through music, remains steadfast. Her mantra? “Music is a learning opportunity and not a competition.”
