Biography & Metadata

Joan Enric Lluna is one of the most acclaimed Spanish musicians. Both as a clarinetist and as a conductor he has performed around the world with great success. Joan has recorded the clarinet repertoire, premiered lots of new pieces written for him, as well as investigated and recovered hidden and forgotten music, mainly form the Spanish tradition. Joan founded and directs MOONWINDS, a versatile ensemble, formerly a wind octet, transformed in a orchestra since 2020. These are some of the recordings: Mozart’s clarinet concerto (Cala , with the ECO); with Bournemouth Sinfonietta (Guild); , Cadaqués O. and Sir Neville Marriner; Brahms’ Sonatas op 120 with Josu de Solaun (Sony) , C. M.von Weber (Berliner Camerata, IBS), Brahms Quintet (Tokyo Q, -HM; Alexander Q-Fighorn)Mozart quintet (Brodsky Cala) , c. Davis Gershwin Porgy & Bess fantasy Mozart “Gran partita” (Harmonia Mundi), Mozart Serenades, “Una cosa rara” “Soleriana”, by Joaquín Rodrigo, conducting. “Un viaje a Nápoles”, Moonwinds Simfònic CD, presents two unknown ballets by V. Martín y Soler. Joan recorded new works by JM. Sánchez Verdú (“Elogio del Horizonte”); Joan Guinjoan “Concerto” (Harmonia Mundi) Balada, “double concerto” and Casablancas clarinet music . Lorin Maazel chose Joana s principal clarinet at the Palau de les Arts , was a founder member of the Cadaqués orchestra. He teaches clarinet and chamber music at the ESMUC in Barcelona and the Trinity College of Music, London.
