Sweet Spirit

Hailing from Austin, Texas -- Sweet Spirit is a unique blend of eclectic soul pop and rock n’ roll. Following the decline of her former group Bobby Jealousy, frontwoman Sabrina Ellis began Sweet Spirit as a solo project in effort to hone her ability to perform independently. However, intrigued by her new sound, Andrew Cashen - long-time musical partner and co-founder of Ellis’ veteran punk group, A Giant Dog - quickly climbed on board and eventually helped to expand the group to an eight piece. Spoon frontman and Austin native, Britt Daniel, became a fan of the group and asked the band to open for Spoon at a "secret" show in Austin. A full West coast tour followed, along with national acclaim declaring Sweet Spirit “Austin’s next great rock band.” The group signed with Nine Mile Records in 2015 and released their first full length album, Cokomo. Since then, the band has toured relentlessly, and shared stages with The New Pornographers, Afghan Whigs and Har Mar Superstar, among others. Their sophomore album, St. Mojo, arrived in April 2017. and was produced by Steve Berlin (Los Lobos, Deer Tick).
