Biography & Metadata

$ex Drvgs makes music for the hours nobody likes to talk about. Blending alternative hip-hop, dark pop, trip-hop, and atmospheric production, these songs live somewhere between confession and cautionary tale. They explore addiction, withdrawal, grief, mental illness, toxic love, relapse, dependency, and the strange ways people learn to survive themselves. There are no heroes here. No polished recovery speeches. No pretending that self-destruction is beautiful just because it sounds good through headphones. $ex Drvgs writes from inside the contradiction: wanting to get better while still craving the thing destroying you, knowing exactly what the problem is and reaching for it anyway. Songs like “White Rabbit,” “Vodka For Breakfast,” “Vicky,” “Backslide,” and “Twitch,” turn uncomfortable subjects into stories that feel painfully human. Sometimes the drug is literal. Sometimes it’s another person. Sometimes you can’t tell the difference. The production can be hazy and hypnotic, stripped and vulnerable, or heavy enough to feel like the walls are closing in. Underneath it is always the same thing: honesty without judgment. $ex Drvgs isn’t interested in romanticizing addiction or cleaning it up for an audience. This is music about consequences, cravings, damaged families, bad decisions, survival, and the tiny piece of hope that somehow stays alive underneath all of it. For anyone who has ever thought, “I know this is killing me,” and still wasn’t ready to let it go.
