Biography & Metadata

Afrobeats is evolving thanks to producers like Grammy-nominated Thisizlondon. Born Michael Ovie Hunter in Kaduna, Nigeria, the 25-year-old musician spent his youth moving across northern Nigeria, where his early exposure to diverse sounds was enriched by his experience playing drums in church. Despite facing many challenges, Thisizlondon pursued his passion for music, relocated to Lagos, Nigeria’s music hub, leading to a breakthrough in 2018. Today, he is establishing himself as a prominent figure in both the global and Nigerian music scenes, celebrated for his eclectic and hit-making production style. With an impressive catalogue, he has crafted chart-topping records for some of the biggest names within the global pop sphere such as Ayra Starr, Rema, Tems, Wizkid, Stormzy, Raye, Tiwa Savage and more. Hit records such as “Charm”, “Calm Down” and “Ozeba” by Rema; “Bloody Samaritan”, “Sability” and Commas by Ayra Starr have outlined Thisizlondon as a unique force to be reckoned with. Known as the CHEAT CODE back home, and as one of the few creatives to succeed globally from Kaduna, he is determined to inspire young people from his hometown, proving that it's possible to forge an unconventional path and defy expectations, in other words, go ROGUE.
