Biography & Metadata
London-based producer Taj Aulakh blends Panjabi folklore with late ’80s/early ’90s East Coast hip-hop, crafting a raw, culturally rooted boom bap sound. Influenced by legends like Pete Rock, Large Professor and Erick Sermon, he bridges his first-generation Panjabi heritage with the rhythmic weight and sampling tradition of the Golden Era. Taj has consistently broken boundaries, taking his sound global through high-profile collaborations. From a debut with the legendary Naseebo Lal and prolific work with Raf Saperra, to producing for Griselda heavyweights Conway the Machine and Benny The Butcher. Taj also produced on the soundtrack for Riz Ahmed ‘s BAIT cementing him as a lead architect merging the grit of boom bap with his cultural roots.
