Biography & Metadata
Abati doesn't release music. She files dispatches. A hoarse, damaged voice — young, but it's clearly been somewhere — working in dark trip-hop the way other people work in clay: as material, never the point. The point is the story. Every track begins as something that had to be said out loud — a broken promise, a machine where a person should be, a light left on in a kitchen — and the music is built around the words until the telling is served. Post-punk basslines, industrial percussion, neoclassical hush, hold-music loops: whatever the story requires. She works at the speed of breaking news. When a story demands telling, the song is out in days — no rollout, no strategy, just the urgency. And the records are wholes: concept EPs and albums built as single arguments — a furious postcard from the doomscroll, an hour on hold with civilization — meant to be heard front to back. No face. No biography. Obsolete Sadness label. The reports keep coming.
