Biography & Metadata
Austin-based singer-songwriter Izzy Crawler turns heartbreak, betrayal, and the messy aftermath of love into something strange, cinematic, and deeply human on her debut album, Creature Comforts (out November 20 via Darlington Records). A genre-fluid rock record, it blends driving drums and guitars with ethereal electronics, orchestral textures, and a 1960s folk-pop sensibility. Crawler’s conversational vocals and impressionistic lyrics find clarity in the chaos, balancing emotional vulnerability with a sharp, wry sense of humor. Izzy Crawler emerged in 2023 as both an artistic project and alter ego—a dark, fantastical world where vulnerability becomes a kind of freedom. Created with Grammy-nominated producer Daniel Barrett, Creature Comforts features an exceptional cast of musicians and was shaped intuitively, without stylistic rules or boundaries. Across the album, Crawler explores the tension between what we believe about someone and what experience ultimately reveals. Its title refers to the distractions we reach for when emotional pain becomes too difficult to face—and the futile search for comfort in all the wrong places. Lead single “Born In A Shell” distills that tension into a hypnotic electro-rock collision of strangled guitars, luminous harmonies, spacious drums, synth-driven strings, and gothic atmosphere.
