Biography & Metadata

Martin Halldén is a Swedish synthpop artist and songwriter with a strong affection for the melodic, electronic pop of the 1980s. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Thompson Twins, a-ha, Alphaville and Howard Jones, his music combines memorable melodies, analogue-flavoured synths and classic pop songwriting with a contemporary electronic production. At the heart of the music is the song itself – melodies, harmonies and hooks – while synthesizers provide the colours and textures. Rather than recreating the sound of the 1980s, Martin Halldén uses its musical DNA as a starting point for his own take on modern synthpop. A key part of the sound is his close collaboration with producer Niklas Winde of Svensk Hushållssynth. Together they shape the sonic identity of the recordings, with Winde contributing to the production process as well as mixing and mastering Martin Halldén’s releases. Alongside his own music, Martin Halldén also works with other electronic artists through collaborations and remix projects.
