Sam Astra

Sam Astra is the solo project of songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Samuel Ashkenazy. Born in Seattle and now based in Los Angeles, Sam began writing songs at 10 and performing original music live by 13. After years of writing, recording, and touring the West Coast with his former band Foxy Apollo, Sam moved to Los Angeles and launched Sam Astra, bringing together his influences from indie, soul, funk, R&B, rock, jazz, hip-hop, pop, and blues. Since launching the project, Sam has released a growing collection of singles including “Balance,” “Nowhere,” and “Care Free,” and has performed throughout Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland. His latest single, “Waitin' by the Phone,” marks the beginning of a new chapter and the first release from his upcoming debut EP, "Get By". Blending heartfelt songwriting, live instrumentation, and a genre-fluid sound, Sam Astra creates music rooted in soul, groove, and the experiences that shape his life.
