Biography & Metadata

“A spiritual voice with global roots.” Jessy Yasmeen is a Rotterdam-based artist and producer whose music moves between Neo-soul, Hip Hop and subtle Latin influences. Her sound is built around warm vocals, layered harmonies and rhythmic grooves, shaped by live instrumentation including strings, congas and flute. Raised between the Netherlands and Aruba, and shaped by Venezuelan, Surinamese, Chinese and Dutch heritage, her work reflects a layered cultural identity. She began writing poetry at the age of nine and picked up the guitar at fourteen. Drawing from prayer, meditation and scripture, she approaches music as a way to bring hidden patterns and beliefs into the light. Working from her home studio, she produces her own music while collaborating with session musicians across the world, from China to Argentina. She was awarded the Rotterdam Music Award 2024 – Export Prize and selected for Popronde 2024. Her music has received airplay on NPO Radio 2 and BBC Radio. She has performed at venues including Paradiso, appeared on the Motel Mozaïque Festival line-up, supported artists such as Selah Sue, Ashley Henry, Son Little and Pale Jay, and toured Cuba three times, performing at the renowned club Fabrica. Jessy now enters a new phase. Her debut album Salt & Soil (2027) reflects a spiritual homecoming, a return to foundation, blending themes of rebuilding and identity with a renewed love for old-school, rhythm-driven production, like boombap.
