Biography & Metadata

Sweden’s Nine Orders is a melodic progressive metal band combining heavy riffs, intricate rhythms, expressive harmonies, and soaring melodies. Drawing on the melodic tradition of bands like Queensrÿche and Fates Warning, together with the doomy heaviness of Sweden’s Memento Mori, the band has developed a sound of its own. The debut album, Ex Imperium, presents seven songs, each with its own musical and emotional identity. The lyrics explore destructive behaviour, personal transformation, resilience, and breaking free from self-imposed limitations. Despite being a new band, Nine Orders brings together experienced musicians. Conservatory-trained John Bergstrand (drums) and Magnus Sjöquist (bass) have performed with numerous artists, while Sjöquist also gained recognition by winning first place in a .strandberg competition. Guitarist Joel Rasmussen is the band’s principal songwriter, combining his work as a university researcher with a long-standing passion for composition and music production.* The band’s debut album features vocals by Johannes Häger, who also mixed and mastered every Nine Orders release to date. Fredrik Bergstrand is the band’s current vocalist, fronting the live line-up. Following the release of Ex Imperium, Nine Orders continues to develop its live act while writing new material. Follow the band on social media for concerts, new music, and future releases.
