YS FXR REAL

Thamsanqa Lucky Makhanya (born 30 November), professionally known as YS FXR REAL, is a multi-talented artist, songwriter, and dancer hailing from Vrede, Free State, South Africa. He began his musical journey at the young age of 13, driven by a passion for creativity and self-expression. His sound is primarily influenced by modern day Kasii Rap (a style of South African rap), blending mellow vibes with heartfelt lyricism. YS FXR REAL's mission goes beyond just making music—he aims to inspire change and raise awareness about mental health within the South African and broader African music community. His work seeks to spark important conversations around mental wellness and how it impacts people's lives. His potential was first recognized in 2019, when he was nominated twice for Best Upcoming Musician at various award events. His independent breakthrough came in 2022 with the release of his third solo single, “Internet Trolls”, produced by 1ix6een. The track was inspired by Tom Rosenthal’s Lights Are On, originally intended as a creative cover piece with a unique spin. In 2025, YS FXR REAL released his latest EP titled “Road To Promised Land”, a collaborative independent project with MAJORKEYS, showcasing his continued evolution and versatility as an artist.
