Biography & Metadata

Mizu is the alias of Leeds based songwriter and producer Jacob Simpson. His music often experiments with orchestral elements, intertwining them with heartfelt lyrics, slick production and catchy melodies that will be stuck in your head for days. After growing his audience throughout 2020 via the online community FORM, Mizu collaborated with EDM artist Skybreak on the track Aurora. This spellbinding track combines the best traits of both artists, and after premiering on UKF and releasing with Disciple, the track has garnered 250,000+ plays on Spotify alone. He released on Disciple again with Skybreak with the track Journey’s End and has seen further success collaborating with upcoming EDM producers. In September 2022 he released his first sample pack Mizu’s One Man Choir, consisting of over 300 samples of self-recorded choir parts. In March of 2023, Mizu’s song Plaything won the Miku Expo 2023 Song Contest. This fun but meaningful swing track will be performed by virtual pop star Hatsune Miku at her concert later this year to an audience of tens of thousands. In 2021, Jacob graduated with an MA in Commercial Music Production from Tileyard Education. Alongside his alias, Jacob is currently working with Ocelot Publishing, producing and writing K-Pop, J-Pop and other songs for the Asian market.
