The best things happen Superlate. Mavi spent his teenage years in Cornwall making coffees for holidaymakers and music in his bedroom — until a headline set from Faithless changed everything. Festivals became his obsession. Music became the point of it all. That coastal upbringing never left. His records carry the pull of the tide and the magic of a sunset — expansive, groove-driven, and warm to the core. A multi-instrumental background woven seamlessly into the electronic sounds gives his music a depth and texture that's entirely his own. Working with vocalists, he has a habit of always drawing out something they didn't know they had. On stage, Superlate doesn't just DJ — he performs. Synths, guitars, percussion, guest vocalists: sets at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend and Boardmasters that Radio 1 themselves singled out as standouts. His debut EP Diamonds — its title track hailed as "special" by Radio 1's Jack Saunders — announced an instinct for bright, pop-leaning dance records. The follow-up, The Tropics, went somewhere bolder — sun-drenched, Balearic, and built to fill bigger spaces — with Better Than You earning co-signs from Jess Iszatt and Sian Eleri: "infectious," "superb," "destined for Ibiza.
