Montee

Montee is a Cologne-based producer and DJ making emotional dance music built around lo-fi textures,detuned synths, UK garage, house and breakbeats. His music carries a strong sense of nostalgia and longing. Storytelling sits at the centre of the project. His tracks have explored everything from love and loneliness to forgotten stories from space and questions about where we’re heading as humanity. Rather than separating those ideas from the music, Montee uses them as a way into it. That approach came together on his EP The Future That Never Was, which expanded Montee into a wider retro-futuristic universe: looking back at the futures people once imagined while trying to find something worth dreaming about in the one we have. Since breaking out with "Duality" in early 2023, now past 25 million streams, he's grown a global audience with no record label behind him, a deliberate choice in favour of authenticity and full artistic control.
