Biography & Metadata

Impossible to pigeonhole, Rob Jillings spans guitar-driven indie rock, electronic chillout and orchestral soundscapes, building a portfolio with cinematic flair and fearless versatility. Growing up in Norwich, UK, Rob picked up the guitar at age 11 and immersed himself in music. Influenced by prog rock giants of the 70s - Pink Floyd, Genesis, ELP - his early sound was shaped by their ambition and artistry. Though he found success playing in a covers band in the ’80s, his true passion lay in crafting original music that pushed boundaries. After a successful career in IT, Rob retired and relocated to Portugal, embracing the freedom to focus on music. In his home studio, he begins bringing years of unfinished projects to life, blending decades of musical experience into a fresh, self-driven chapter. Debut single Summer Nights - a jazzy, Latin-infused guitar instrumental - evokes Mediterranean evenings and leads a forthcoming guitar-based EP. Ground Zero explores darker, downtempo electronica. Orchestral Music for a Film Part I is a brooding score, the first track of a future four-part orchestral EP. When not in the studio, Rob and his partner tend a sprawling garden, feed the feral cats of the village, and explore the wild beauty of rural Portugal.
