Biography & Metadata

OM53 is the nostalgic indie-pop project of Cris Araya, blending analog synths, chorus-soaked guitars, catchy melodies, and honest storytelling rooted in faith and personal growth. The project debuted in 2020 with Defender, whose lead single was named Song of the Year by one of Guatemala’s largest radio stations. As OM53 began reaching listeners throughout Latin America and the UK, its sound continued to evolve. In 2021, Junior Year (Homecoming) Side A revealed a more intimate side of the project—an open letter exploring insecurity, love, church politics, and the complicated process of growing up. OM53 continued that evolution with the Get Better EP in 2024 and Letting Go of Yesterday in 2025. Inspired by artists such as MGMT, Tennis, Men I Trust, and Tame Impala, Cris is now taking OM53 into a new chapter as a solo project while preserving the nostalgia, vulnerability, and faith at its core. Over the years, OM53 has shared the stage with Colony House, Newsboys, Lecrae, and We the Kingdom, performing at venues and festivals across the country—including Creation Fest, SoulFest, and the Mann Center in Philadelphia. OM53 is music for anyone learning to let go, grow, and find beauty in what came before. Gloria a Dios siempre.
