Moonstar88

Moonstar88 is a Filipino pop alternative band celebrated for their emotionally resonant songwriting and melodic guitar-driven sound that has become deeply woven into the OPM landscape. Rising to prominence with their breakthrough hit “Torete,” the band helped define the sound of early 2000s Filipino alternative music and continues to connect with audiences through themes of love, longing, nostalgia, and self-reflection. Over the years, Moonstar88 has built a loyal and multigenerational following through enduring songs such as “Migraine,” “Sulat,” and “Ang Pag-ibig Kong Ito,” earning a reputation for crafting heartfelt anthems that remain relevant across eras. Now composed of Maysh Baay (vocals/guitar), Herbert Hernandez (lead guitar), and Bon Sundiang (drums), the band has remained active for more than two decades, continuously evolving their sound while staying true to the emotional honesty that defines their music. From their debut album Popcorn (2000) to Lourdes 2088 (2023), and with the release of new music in 2026, Moonstar88 continues to expand their discography and reaffirm their lasting influence in Filipino rock. Their enduring presence in OPM reflects both their artistic growth and their ability to create songs that resonate with listeners across generations.
