Biography & Metadata
Subterranean Street Society is a Danish-Dutch band that has spent the past decade carving out a sound of its own on the crossroads of folk, alternative and grunge. Their self-described folk grunge blends the storytelling traditions of folk with the raw intensity of alternative rock, combining resonator guitars, distorted bass, tape noise and thunderous drums with the unmistakable voice of frontman Louis Puggaard-Müller, whose years as a travelling street musician still echo through every song. Since 2017, the band has played hundreds of shows across Europe and beyond, performing in the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, England, Italy, Russia and New Zealand. Their music has featured in the Netflix series Ragnarok and they have appeared on Dutch television with The Ballroom. Their albums ‘Twelve Steps’, ‘Saudade’ and ‘Bleep’ earned widespread acclaim from the Dutch music press, including OOR, Trouw and MusicMaker. With their latest album ‘Out Of Skin, Into Bloom’, everything comes together. After years of constant evolution, Subterranean Street Society has fully embraced the sound that defines them: raw, literary, vulnerable and explosive. On stage, no two shows are ever the same, but one thing always is: this is a band that refuses to play it safe.
