Biography & Metadata

Charles Berthoud is a bassist, composer and producer known for pushing the boundaries of the instrument. Blending virtuosic technique with memorable melodies and cinematic songwriting, his music draws from rock, jazz, classical and progressive influences to create a sound that is both technically ambitious and emotionally engaging. His genre-defying approach has attracted a global audience of more than 3 million followers and led to performances across Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia. Charles has become one of the most recognizable voices in modern bass playing. His innovative techniques, original compositions and online presence have helped redefine the role of the bass guitar for a new generation of musicians. Beyond performing, Charles is also a respected educator. He has taught more than 20,000 students through his Basscamp courses and Patreon community, co-authored Two-Handed Tapping with Berklee professor Jim Stinnett, and delivered masterclasses at events including Victor Wooten's Music & Nature Camp, Musicians Institute, Guitar Summit and Stu Hamm's Estonian Bass Oasis.
