Biography & Metadata

Chi City is a Chicago-born artist, songwriter, and creative director whose world stretches beyond hip-hop. Raised on the South Side, he comes from a city responsible for some of music’s most fearless individualists—from Kanye West to Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa—and carries that same refusal to be easily defined. His music moves between sharp lyricism, soul, distortion and cinematic production, balancing introspection with ideas meant to live beyond the headphones. Building independently has allowed Chi to experience music from nearly every angle. He’s released multiple projects, toured, and collaborated with artists including Lil Durk, MGK, Usher, Don Toliver and Travis Scott. Those years both in front of the microphone and contributing creatively behind the scenes shaped an artist who understands that making a great record isn’t always about being the loudest person on it—it’s knowing what the record needs. That philosophy extends beyond music. As his own creative director, Chi develops the imagery, concepts and worlds behind his releases while working across fashion and entrepreneurship. To him, they’re different languages for the same ideas—music becomes clothing, clothing becomes imagery, and imagery becomes a world. “I spent a lot of time knowing what I could do and finding reasons not to fully show it. I’m not trying to prove I belong anymore. I’m building the world I should’ve built a long time ago.”
