Biography & Metadata

www.erikaribeiro.com Erika Ribeiro is one of the most distinctive pianists of her generation in Brazil, recognized for questioning the boundaries between “classical” and “popular” music and for exploring music in its essence. A prizewinner of major competitions, including the Nelson Freire Competition, and awarded more than 20 times, she has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in leading concert halls in Brazil and abroad, alongside prominent orchestras. With a solid education in Brazil and Europe, Erika also stands out for her research and artistic curiosity, reflected in her discography. Her first album, "Images of Brazil", already revealed this approach by bringing together different musical worlds. In 2021, she released her first solo album, which reached the finals of the Prêmio Concerto and earned a nomination for the 2022 Latin Grammy Awards, consolidating her presence on the international scene. In 2026, she presents "Villa-Lobos", her new album, in which she revisits the composer’s work through original arrangements and a contemporary approach. Alongside other musicians, Erika explores new rhythmic and sonic layers, reaffirming her artistic identity: a pianist who connects traditions, challenges labels, and proposes new ways of listening to Brazilian music.
