Biography & Metadata

FirewoodZ Biography African European hip-hop duo FirewoodZ are best known for their unique style and creative production, fusing their native African influences with afro beat flavors. The masterminds behind FirewoodZ are Abdul Bary aka BeRazz from Sierra Leone and Manucho Gaca aka BigNucho, born in Angola. The pair met as young refugees escaping civil wars in Africa and found themselves seeking safety together in the Netherlands. Big Nucho and BeRazZ originally formed the group under the alias, The First Soldiers, in 2006. They would later change the name to FirewoodZ, releasing their first mixtape ‘The Oki Doki Mixtape’ in 2007. Their first official single ‘024’ was released with a music video representing the city of Nijmegen, the very place where FirewoodZ was born. Thanks to the success of their single, FirewoodZ created the 024 movement with fellow rappers Snake Eyes, Young C, Balance and Influence. The single gained a lot of attraction in the southern region of the Netherlands, especially TV Nijmegen, the local TV station and Holland’s top hip-hop TV station, The BOX TV, which showcased up-and-coming Dutch talents. An interview with FirewoodZ aired on National TV in Holland for weeks and the popularity interested promoters. It wasn’t long before FirewoodZ were headlining shows across the Netherlands, with ‘024’ becoming an anthem for the city.
