The infamous and highly coveted "red tape" details the perils of being young and black in a city ravaged by drugs and violence – and Esham's wavering faith. Scathing with religious, sexual, and political commentary, Esham blurred the lines between genres to create a new sound that was unlike anything anyone had ever heard. His recipe became a blueprint for a whole new style of music that inspired some of our generation's most notorious artists.
