K Like the Letter

It’s nice to find music that feels like home, and that is distinctive; an unexpected collage of quality lyrics and sonics so smooth you could meditate to it if you pleased. Meet K Like The Letter, a vocalist who raps and sings, using melodies and cadences across different genres, aiming to captivate your thoughts with entendre, often successfully. Hailing from the birthplace of Hip-Hop, the Bronx, NY, K, as his friends call him, was exposed to Reggae through his Father, and Rap much later, in his older Brother; two genres he fell for tremendously. In 2018, he would release his first EP, Cést Fiat. The voice is what grabs you first, as it is a mix of Caribbean warmth and New York know-how, even as the artist stakes his current claim in Austin, TX today, after a move from his home. Living and learning over the next two years allowed K to prepare for his follow up project, Lo Fire, to be released in 2021. Describable as “Yacht Rap,” Lo Fire puts you at ease with a vibration similar to the “Sailing” of Christopher Cross lore; and lyrics more kin to poetry than simply rhymed words. Speaking of sailing, Trips Vol. 1 is K’s latest project to date. The 2022 EP features three records that take you on a floating swim to dust your day off. There’s real emotion to be found in K’s music, from the contemplative to the constant dancing, all whilst keeping his culture and upbringing in focus, in a Rap/Reggae package, unseen until now.
