Katie Jenkins

Katie Jenkins is a multi-award-winning Welsh composer and producer based between New York City and London, known for a distinctive sound shaped by her Welsh heritage and the energy of NYC. Acclaimed for her collaborative, cross-disciplinary approach, she creates music for stage, concert hall, screen, and multimedia. Her work has been featured at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, New York Fashion Week (with designer Bad Binch Tong Tong), the New York Choreographic Institute at New York City Ballet, most recently, recorded A Solar Symphony with the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. Her orchestral music has been performed or commissioned by leading ensembles including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields at Air Studios with pianist Chloe Flower (Cariad), the Juilliard Orchestra at Alice Tully Hall (Awakening), the Pittsburgh and San Diego Symphony Orchestras (orchestrating Shaggy: Mr. Symphonic with David Ludwig), the Albany Symphony Orchestra (This Land of Ours), and the Second Ending Ensemble at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room (A Solar Symphony). She is also active in dance collaborations with Pointeworks, Revolve Dance Project, Stefanie Nelson Dance Group, and Chamber Dance Project. Jenkins recently won the American Prize in Composition for her musical This Land of Ours. She holds a master’s degree in composition from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Pulitzer Prize–winner Melinda Wagner.
