Biography & Metadata

From his lush falsetto vocals to his stacked alt pop productions and crystal clear recordings, Matthew John is a songwriter, producer, and audio engineer who has been training to release his own music as an artist since he was a kid. Beginning his music journey as a guitarist at 12 years old, Matt ruthlessly grinded, writing and producing his own songs and playing in rock and metal bands as a teen. Not satisfied with how his songs were sounding in the studio, he then took it upon himself to learn how to record his own songs. Within a year, he had become competent enough to get hired at local recording studios as an in-house recording engineer. Moving to NYC in 2021, Matt decided to set the goal of creating a full time career as a musician. Through determination and some luck, Matt managed to earn a full time living 4 months in through a mixture of recording, producing, and songwriting for clients. During this time, Matt had sessions with many notable artists and influencers in NYC including Lil Tjay, Doe Boy, TJ Porter, Capella Grey, Chicklet (TikTok), NBC, and several Broadway shows. While grinding in the studio for other artists, Matt was refining his own music catalog and preparing to expand his career into his true musical goal of being a self-sustaining recording artist. Determined to bring this project to success, Matt released his first song “Down” in June of 2023.
