Vidura Barrios

Vidura Barrios is a composer, producer and vocalist whose music explores the transformative power of sacred sound. Drawing inspiration from Sanskrit mantra, the devotional traditions of India and the contemplative practice of meditation, his work brings ancient sacred texts into spacious, contemporary musical settings. A lifelong meditator, Vidura began his practice at the age of sixteen and later spent ten years living in a meditation ashram, where mantra, chanting and the sacred traditions of India became an integral part of his spiritual and musical life. His recordings range from intimate Sanskrit chants and traditional mantras to richly layered vocal arrangements, Indian-inspired compositions and immersive meditation soundscapes. At the heart of the music is a deep respect for the Sanskrit texts themselves—their sound, pronunciation, meaning and centuries-old role as vehicles for contemplation and devotion. Through albums including CHANT!, Bija Mantras, Shri Rudram, Peace Mantras from the Vedas and Upanishads and Mystic Power, Vidura continues to explore the meeting place between ancient sacred tradition and contemporary sound.
