Rizzle Kicks

We’re Rizzle Kicks. The first time we entered the music scene we were both 19 years old, stepping out into the public consciousness pre-social media, pre-inflation, pre-Brexit. It was a good time. We made music that reflected us then, young and mis-guided but expressing ourselves with chest. We took some time away from the rat race of the industry to work on other things both personally and professionally, but found ourselves coming back together with fresh minds and experience to pour into our music. The first new track, Javelin, was made a little after we laid the foundations for the album with Swindle and Ant Whiting, who had been on the journey with us the first time around. It really informed the rest of the record because as we’ve grown up our musical tastes have met somewhere in between the late Mac Miller and Anderson Paak with a shared respect for Jurassic 5. We love making live instrument funk-infused hip hop with emotionally driven messages, and we believe that is a unique space that we left in the UK scene. It has felt good coming back to it with the growth that we have both had since then. Harley’s a dad of two, we’re both pretty much sober, we’re both in love and that’s what we’ve written about. Celebrating the fact that we’re grown and in love and can talk about our mental health but in a fun way, as we’ve always done, just with more life and diverse influences to draw from.
